Medical Mission to Nevis

Hello everyone - life's been very busy these last few months. Friend Ships just completed another medical mission, this time to the island of Nevis in the Caribbean. It was a lot of work but so totally worth it! I don't have any pictures yet but will post excessively soon hopefully. I've also recently completed another semester of nursing schoool! Only one more semester to go . . .

Rome Sweet Foam

Last week the guys hosted another hit event. In honor of Darell's 14th birthday, the bottom of hold one on the Grace was yet again transformed - this time into a themed gladiator competition with jousting, fighting and togas!





By the end of the evening, all the foam was broken into pieces - but like true gladiators we didn't let that stop us! We just used a couple of the discarded togas to make big bundles of foam with which to hit each other with!


It looked so fun that Anne and I decided to have a go at it.



She most definitely kicked my butt - but it sure was fun!

Spring has most definitely arrived down here in Louisiana. To celebrate we had an awesome game of ultimate frisbee out in the field next to the old coast guard building. Here's a picture of some of the team. You might notice we're a bit muddy - we'll come back to that in a minute.


I don't have any pics of the actual game - was too busy running back and forth across the stupid field. However, after the absolutely exhausting game of frisbee we played some other games like - 'Red Rover' and the slightly lesser well known 'Let's All Hold Hands In a Circle Around a Barrel and Try to Push Someone Into It'





Once the games were over, we just played in the mud :)

Dance Party

Since we don't know when we'll next be heading to Israel, we (the crew) have found alternate uses for the cargo holds - dances, movie nights, and coming soon. . . gladiator night!

We've even got our very own DJ!

Out With the Girls

Hey y'all,
here is a pic of tami, myself and lydia out to dinner tonight at Luna's. Thank you joi for being the first person to recommend that place to me - i knew from that point on that i would love it - as soon as i could find it that is. they moved after the hurricane and it wasn't until a couple of months ago that i finally tried it out:)

It was so fun to get dressed up and really go out on a Saturday night! Okay, so obviously i'm writing this the night of and therefore hold no disillusions about how pathetically early we returned to the ships - but regardless of that - it was a great time!

plus, i found a really sweet pair of black heeled knee-high boots on the give-away table today! yay! (sorry, no pics of the boots are available yet)

Rock Star - Iowa Style

I feel famous. Not me personally i guess, but as an Iowan i now feel very famous. it started last thursday when i was visiting my sister in Des Moines and i clicked on the TV and saw a live airing of Nighline - right there in downtown Des Moines! that ain't no small thing! it's not everyday my beautiful state makes it onto national news. Go Iowa Caucus!

Now today, as i was creating the most awesome salad ever (yep Kip - you've got some competition now!) i turned on the show modern marvels and what do i see?! that's right! Iowa! the oh so famous World's Largest Truckstop. almost the 8th wonder of the world, and here i drive past it every time i'm home without a second thought! i'm just THAT famous i guess :)

Happy New Years from Sigourney Iowa!

I was able to visit with Kristin and Jim for a few days around New Years. They're living in Podunk - oops, i mean Sigourney, Iowa :) Kristin and I enjoyed an afternoon walking through the snow drifts as she showed me around. It's such a quaint town - we even stopped at her neighbors house to buy some farm fresh eggs!

Karsen's able to walk with help now and we all had the chance to walk laps through my mom's house with her. she would get so excited to be walking she squeeked :)


here's a pic of my gramps and karsen wearing their matching christmas gifts from me. gramps has played the part of scrooge every Christmas since i can remember. i can still hear his teasing "nope, we're not having Christmas this year lindser" or just good 'ole "bah - humbug!" this thanksgiving he was waving money in 9month old Karsen's face trying to get her to say 'Christmas sucks'. It didn't work. Mostly because Karsen can't talk yet.

so, this year i made karsen a shirt with those words on it and then made gramps a matching red apron for his workshop. it was a hit :)

The Making of Frostella

Jess and I had some fun playing in the snow during her visit.


Unfortunately, Payton thought that Frostella's arms looked like the perfect opportunity to start a game of catch.


Here she is - Frostella! With tent pegs for eyes, a baby carrot for a nose and a scrap of plastic conduit for a mouth she is a very special snowwoman :)
